From a background as a knowledge technologist, Hans has developed into a versatile and energetic Information Architect. When developing information systems, he opts for a data-oriented approach. In this way he designed the core systems for a number of large pension funds.
He knows it is important to have the language of the business reflected in the data models. In addition, he is always genuinely interested in the client’s domain and is able to relate to their situation. He has worked extensively for (semi-) government institutions and is therefore familiar with the interpretation of laws and regulations and their transposition into business rules.
Architecture is in your head. In other words: architecture solutions / decisions must be supported by the business and by the developers. That means that architecture comes from the dialogue. As a designer he likes to illustrate his ideas and designs in a graphic way. His background as a graphic designer helps him with this.
“Systems are just like people, they have responsibility and speak their own language. The art is to let them communicate with each other.”
